F1 Betting: Deal Reached to Halt Breakaway Series

June 24th, 2009 No comments

Mixed feelings about this one really because I was getting excited about the prospect of the ‘New’ Formula 1.

FIA President Max Mosley said – “There will be no split. We have agreed to a reduction of costs. There will be one F1 championship but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early 90s within two years.”

Formula 1: Break Away Series Schedule Leak

June 23rd, 2009 No comments

It has been reported today that there has been a leak of the Formula 1 FOTA Break Away series schedule for 2010.

None of the dates have been confirmed yet by FOTA (Formula One Team’s Association), but there are some old favourites and classic racing circuits on the list.

Personally I would love to have seen SPA on the list, but who knows, if the whole thing goes ahead it might appear yet.

List as follows…

Click to view current odds for British GP at Silverstone

With qualifying over and Jenson Button struggling to make an impression for the first time this season, it looks from our computer race simulation that his team mate Rubens Barrichello could be the value bet of the weekend Click to view current odds for British GP at Silverstone.

The Reb Bull’s are looking strong, and with their new modifications will be hard to be, they will have to be on the top of their game though to keep the Brawn GP of Rubens Barrichello at bay.

While Vettel topped the times for both practices, the Saga of the breakaway news continues:

Max Mosley is standing his ground. He told the BBC:

“We had to take legal proceedings. That’s all part of the process, but the moment they come to their senses that will all stop”

F1 News: Teams in Breakaway Shock

June 19th, 2009 No comments

Just hours before the start of the F1 British Grand Prix racing weekend at Silverstone ( Click to view current odds) eight teams (Brawn GP, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, BMW Sauber, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso) have anounced plans to form a breakaway series in 2010.

The FOTA statement in full:

Looking at the current Betfair market before qualifying I have put a lay bet in Vettel Click to view current odds for the Monaco Grand Prix. I do think that he is a great driver, but he has not been looking unbeatable here at Monaco.

Monaco Grand Prix and a Week Without Much Activity

May 22nd, 2009 No comments

It felt like a strange week this week as I didn’t make many bets at all. This was partly because I cashed in part of my betting bank to use to pay for a holiday, and partly because I have spent the analysis time working on my Poker game.

I was writing an article about the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday (Click here to read) and concluded that Lewis Hamilton was my bet after the practice sessions. I put my bet on at odds of 12 as soon as the practice session had ended. A lot of other people must have gone with the same bet because I was able to lay off for a nice profit less than 15 min later at odds of 9.8. Click to view current odds for the Monaco Grand Prix

I might be making some more bets after the qualifying, so I’ll post what I do on here.

Spanish Grand Prix Betfair Trading

Spanish Grand Prix Betfair Trading

My initial trading bets with Rosburg and Glock didn’t really pay off, but after tracking the practice and qualifying it was clear that Rubens was going to be good in the early stages of the race. I backed him just before the race started and layed him after the first lap.

I placed bets on each of the drivers during the race, but couldn’t get that much on Button as he was always looking good and the odds were always low. I took a screen shot towards the end of the race as seen above. As you can see, no matter who wins the race at this point a profit will be made.

Trading on betting exchanges can be great if you think you can predict the flow of a race or game.
