With qualifying over and Jenson Button struggling to make an impression for the first time this season, it looks from our computer race simulation that his team mate Rubens Barrichello could be the value bet of the weekend

The Reb Bull’s are looking strong, and with their new modifications will be hard to be, they will have to be on the top of their game though to keep the Brawn GP of Rubens Barrichello at bay.

It felt like a strange week this week as I didn’t make many bets at all. This was partly because I cashed in part of my betting bank to use to pay for a holiday, and partly because I have spent the analysis time working on my Poker game.
I was writing an article about the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday (Click here to read) and concluded that Lewis Hamilton was my bet after the practice sessions. I put my bet on at odds of 12 as soon as the practice session had ended. A lot of other people must have gone with the same bet because I was able to lay off for a nice profit less than 15 min later at odds of 9.8.

I might be making some more bets after the qualifying, so I’ll post what I do on here.

I will be looking to do some betfair trading this weekend on the Spanish Grand Prix. I have detailed my thoughts on my Betfair blog posting which you can read here

One winner on the horses and two second places makes a nice little pot today.
In F1 I traded out of the Alonso bet after only 30mins of making it as the odds shifted just after the second practice. I then traded out of the Button bet after qualifying. I would have happily lost money on the race though after watching a great performance from the whole of the Brawn GP team. Formula 1 really does seem to have picked up this year. I am really looking forward to the European races now.
Lets hope that I have some luck with the NBA selections going up shortly.
Yet again Jenson Button has showed that his Brawn GP teams success is here to stay by setting the fastest time in practice. He will be looking to clock up his third win of the season on a circuit where he finished 16 last year. Team mate Rubens Barrichello finished the practice in third place with Nico Rosberg’s Williams splitting the pair.
Last years race was won by Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren, but this year he may struggle to repeat the performance. There was a glimmer of hope though as the modified McLaren which now sports a new diffuser and front wing took top spot during the first session. Practice times never reveal the full story, but if these modifications have improved the car that much then Hamilton’s current Betfair odds of 16 (correct at time of writing) do look like quite a good deal.
If you don’t fancy Button’s chances in this race then there are some great odds available for other drivers. Barrichello at 7.4 might be a good value bet, as is Nico Rosberg at 17. I am also tempted to put a bet on Mark Webber at 38 with a view of trading out during the race.
If you decide to have a bet this weekend then good luck to you. Let’s hope there is not to much rain this time!
