Using Computers to Help You Bet: The Passion of Grubber
I have been using computers to help me bet for the best part of my betting life. A computer betting system can be a great tool for everything from checking your odds to creating a full blown sports prediction system.
Sadly I am not going to tell you that using a computer betting system will change your profits overnight. Any system is only as good as the way it has been programmed and the data it has to work with.
There is some good news though, you don't have to be a computer programmer to knock up a betting system. ...
Keeping your head – The most important part of keeping your money
Betting can be a lot of fun, but if you are in it to make some money then you should start treating it as a business rather than a game (though having a smaller bank for fun bets is still a good idea).
It is very easy to lose your head when betting, we have all had moments when your well researched top picks don't come in and you are left with a hole in your betting bank.
Make sure you follow a good money management system.
Money management is key to making and keeping your winnings. Find the money management ...
Staking plans – How to calculate your stake
Betting Staking Plans
There are many varying opinions on staking plans, but one thing all Staking Plans have in common is the notion of protecting your betting bank.
Your betting bank should be your starting point for your staking plan. The size of your betting bank should be based on the money you have set aside and can afford to lose if it all goes wrong. This should never be money that should be paying your bills or looking after your family. If you don't have the spare money to start now then please take the time ...
Finding Value – Value bets and extracting maximum profit
Finding value is the key to making profit long term from betting. Not one single punter wins every bet he/she makes, in fact just getting a good winning percentage can be hard. Don't give up if you have a few loosing bets because the good news is that if you make sure you find the value you will profit long term.
Value simply means finding better odds than the chance of it occurring. A crazy example might be a football match, lets say England v Andorra. The realistic odds for England winning at home might be around 1.2, but lets suppose ...
Money Management – The most important part of winning
In my opinion the importance of good money management while betting is THE most important factor to becoming a long term winner. Picking winners is great, but no one wins all of the time, no matter how good they are.
So what do I mean by money management? Well, to me money management is the art of keeping your losses to a minimum so that you bank is never affected too much by a single day of losses. Not only that but it is making sure, as best you can, that your bank grows over time. Bank growth is where the ...
Betting online – The traditional route and betting exchanges
While betting shops remain popular (I have five in my small town), the world of online betting has grown to massive proportions. A whole new world has opened to people who would never have set foot in a betting shop. Now people are free to research their bets in the comfort of their own home (or garden sometimes if you are anything like me), with the very latest information on the sporting event right at their finger tips.
Online betting offers you the opportunity to bet on events at anytime, day or night and see your winnings appear in ...

Mixed feelings about this one really because I was getting excited about the prospect of the ‘New’ Formula 1.
FIA President Max Mosley said – “There will be no split. We have agreed to a reduction of costs. There will be one F1 championship but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early 90s within two years.”
While Vettel topped the times for both practices, the Saga of the breakaway news continues:
Max Mosley is standing his ground. He told the BBC:
“We had to take legal proceedings. That’s all part of the process, but the moment they come to their senses that will all stop” Read more…
Looking at the current Betfair market before qualifying I have put a lay bet in Vettel Click to view current odds for the Monaco Grand Prix. I do think that he is a great driver, but he has not been looking unbeatable here at Monaco.
It felt like a strange week this week as I didn’t make many bets at all. This was partly because I cashed in part of my betting bank to use to pay for a holiday, and partly because I have spent the analysis time working on my Poker game.
I was writing an article about the Monaco Grand Prix yesterday (Click here to read) and concluded that Lewis Hamilton was my bet after the practice sessions. I put my bet on at odds of 12 as soon as the practice session had ended. A lot of other people must have gone with the same bet because I was able to lay off for a nice profit less than 15 min later at odds of 9.8. Click to view current odds for the Monaco Grand Prix
I might be making some more bets after the qualifying, so I’ll post what I do on here.
Note: Never bet with any money that you are not prepared to lose. This system is a high turn over system with the aim of long term profits; it is not designed to be used for single selections. Always form your own opinion when betting and do not blindly follow tips.
