Lewis Hamilton (click here to check current odds) set the fastest time during the first practice today with Jenson Button (click here to check current odds) suffering technical problems with his Brawn GP car. Later in the second session Nico Rosberg (click here to check current odds) topped the timings

Alonso was looking very good today and I think that Renualt have managed to catch up quite a bit. Looking at the odds he is available at 18.5 (at time of writing) (click here to check current odds).

The market still has confidence in Button (click here to check current odds) and his odds didn’t shift that much as a result of the practice. I would expect him to put in a good show during qualifying, but he might not have it his own way in this race.

Vettel the winner in the last race is available at 7 (at time of writing) (click here to check current odds) – and may make a tempting bet if you feel he can repeat his performance.

Using a betting exchange my strategy at this stage would be to put in a lay bet for Button before qualifying and a back bet on Alonso (click here to check current odds) , with a view to trading out of these bets if need be during the race.

It’s been a busy day today, so quite a late update. There is still a while until the game though and the wait turned out to be a good thing because Boston’s price has been coming out all day. I am pleased that posting the system selections yesterday didn’t curse it. Three of the four didn’t make it into place positions therefore giving me the win (remember these were lay bets on betting exchanges).
